Cinematography in Schindlers List Essay -- Film Movie Steven Spielber

The paper I decided to do was on Schindlers List. I have seen this movie four times and yet had not really noticed the many ways in which the director, Steven Spielberg, used the camera to emphasis a million words. It was interesting, when watching this film from this stand point, how I was able to see the importance of the way the director uses sounds and color to make some ofttimes significant points of a film.I decided to emphasis the way certain close ups and facial expressions were used to show very significant emotions of the characters in the film. In these particular scenes, no words had to be used. The camera focuses on the character involved in the scene and one and only(a) can tell exactly what is loss on in the mind of the character. The other aspect of the movie that I wanted to discuss is the medical specialty that was used. This movie won seven academy awards. not surprisingly, one of awards was for Best Original scene. The use of music in the scenes was very appro priate. Im going to discuss several of the scenes of the movie and how music contributed to the scene. There is a scene in the movie where Oskar Schindler is put in jail because he kissed a Jewish girl, this scene has Schindler in a cellphone with another person, Schindler says that he is incarcerated because he kissed this Jewish girl. His cellmate makes the remark Did your prick fall off, the cellmate begins to laugh, and Schindler joins him in the laughter. Suddenly the camera pans up to Oskar Schindlers face. His face shows a man that is no longer laughing but, without words, you can see in his face that he doesnt find the remark humorous. Further, the close up on his expression reveals a man that has a revelation. The revelation is that he is horrified that Jewish people are thought of in this way.The close ups of Amon Goeth, the monster SS arrest that ran the camp at Krakow, are some of the most revealing scenes without words. One scene shows a conversation between Schindler and Goeth. Schindler is trying to explain to Goeth that true great power lies in forgiving when you dont have to forgive. For a while Goeth tries to do what Schindler says, pardon those Jews that do him wrong. He lets the stable male child that dropped his saddle of the hook. He tells the guard to let a woman go back to work the guard was going to shoot the woman. Goeth goes upstairs and finds a boy cleaning his tub. The boy is ... ...ifferent from the one in the other two scenes, and so was the one in the scenes where Goeth was beating up his maid. Schindlers List is an incredible movie. Every time that I walk away form watching this movie, I feel emotionally wrecked. I recover this is the intention of the film and why it is so great. I think that Steven Spielbergs intention was to make this unforgettable so that it could never happen again. I chose to talk about the silent moments where a camera shot emphasizes an emotion. I also chose to discuss some of the music. There are so many other things that are worth discussing. The way the film was done in slow and white. The way that the scenes in the death camps were so realistic that you really thought you were viewing actual footage. There are so many things that made it same(p) no other film. I know that a lot of the people found the movie disturbing because of the rage. Perhaps these people forget that this is not violence done just to make the movie Oscar worthy. This is true violence that was done to 6 million Jewish human beings. A person would hope that one would be disturbed enough to take a stand against anything like this ever happening again.

To Kill A Mockingbird Essays: Boo and Tom Misunderstood :: Kill Mockingbird essays

Boo and Tom Misunderstood in To Kill a Mockingbird In the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Atticus tells Jem and Scout to, Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit em, but remember its a sin to kill a mockingbird, he is referring to the flavor that a mockingbird is a harmless creature and does nothing but sing and bring happiness to the world. Harper Lee takes the title for her novel from this enactment because the imagery of the mockingbird is analogous to the characters of both Boo Radley and Tom Robinson. These two characters are harmless songbirds who are sinfully destroyed. Although Boo Radley only actually physically appears in the story once, he serves two essential purposes. At the beginning of the novel, Boo serves as an enigma to the children, giving them mostthing to make the focal point of their games, as sound as a topic of conversation. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Boo embodies more character than most of the citizens of Maycomb, emerging as a symbol of what is real just and right. Boo stands up for what he believes is right, no matter what people think of him.   In the beginning of the story, Boo represents the unknown. The children wonder about Boo and his eery way of life, but really have no concept of who he is. At first, the children ask questions about Boo with regards to his weird living style. When this does not accomplish their curiosities, they make up games and stories about Boo which present him as being a monster. At one point, the children invade the Radley property in hopes of finding some clue which will better explain Boos character As the story progresses, Boo becomes more of a symbol of kindness and bravery than that of the town en which he is made out to be. Boo leaves presents for the children in the hollow trunk of an old tree, as well as covers Scout with a blanket during girl Maudies fire. However, it is not until he saves Jem and Scouts life from the hands of the deranged Mr. Ewell, that Boo shows his true heroic character. Even though Boo is a physically weaker man, he shows no fear when it comes to protecting Jem and Scouts life.   It is not until after this rather odd episode that Scout is finally able to come to terms with her true feelings towards Boo.

Yemen Essay -- Yemens Government, Politics

In spite of Yemens desire to be a world player, informal strife and an upswing of insurgent activity is pulling the country apart. Yemen occupies the southernmost region of the Arabian Peninsula, sharing boarders with Saudi Arabia and Oman. Yemen enjoys many miles of coastline. The port of Aden is so located as to be the shipping center for the country. This papers purpose is to provide information and intelligence assessment for the following areas history, government, foreign relations, demographics, economy, military and the current affright posed by Yemen. An influx of militants from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Afghanistan has raised concerns that Yemen has become an Al-Qaede haven (2). This concern contrasts with the governments efforts in counterterrorism and the goal of being a sure world player. I assess that Yemen has seen what seems to be a typical inception and growth for countries of the Middle-East. Prior to the region being named Yemen, it fell under the control of some(prenominal) fleeting kingdoms between the 12th century BC and the 6th century AD. Beginning in the 7th century AD, Islamic caliphs began to exercise control within the region later known as Yemen (1). The Ottoman Turks, as they gained control of the Middle East occupied all of Northern Yemen until there withdraw in 1918 (1). As World War II draws to an end, Yemen joins the Arab League in 1945 and the U.N. in 1947 (1). However, at this point Yemen is still divided in to two states, the Yemen Arab Republic (YAR) and the Peoples pop Republic of Yemen (PDRY). It took years for the two factions to agree on unification and another decade for a constitution to be agreed to. On 22 whitethorn 1990 The Republic of Yemen was declared.I assess that Yemens... ...le-East countries, is standing in between the governments progressive policies and the extremist views of the Muslim radicals. And in a metre where having the defame supporter can bring the wrath of the radicals down on you, Y emen is looking in all directions for help. The civil discontent, a weak economy and a maturation number of terrorist calling Yemen home put Yemen in a precarious position. The aid they receive from the U.S. helps the government and people while at the same time allowing the insurgents to point fingers at week leadership. As for the U.S., we must proceed cautiously. A true ally in region is invaluable. But a weak ally could draw the U.S. into further conflicts or stretch the amount of aid we send to a region. In my opinion it is better to keep Yemen close. Helping Yemen along allows us to keep our finger a little more closely on the pulse of our foes.

"In particular, the symmetry of attempted to actual suicides shifts quite markedly among older persons. Among the population as a whole, the ratio of attempted suicides to actual suicides has been estimated to be 10 to 1 among the young (15-24), it has been estimated to be 100 to 1 and among those over 55, it has been estimated to be 1 to 1."          Self dislike, depression seclusion and suicide have a very great role in one persons self esteem. Although the above statistics made it seem to be impossible to overcome these feelings, the research hopefully gave us all the possible ways that we can be victorious and set ourselves free from this psychological slavery.

This paper is based on the computer computer computer architecture of Medieval Period from 500AC 1400AD and its styles such as Byzantine, Early Christian, roman lettersesque and Gothic. Moreover, the paper in any case covers certain examples from mho Florida and the famous edifices standing there. Although a lot of judgment of conviction has passed since the gallant times, we can still see some creates that were build in the medieval times. Most of the bases that were built during this time were mostly those that belonged to the rich merchants. However, in most of the places the construction done earlier has been replaced as these buildings have been rebuilt and remodeled. The town houses that were built during this time were partially equal to their rural counterparts and they were basically designed due to the lack of space. This is because, previously, land especially in the towns was considered to be very important. The normal town plot in the medieval times was long a nd narrow and it ran back from the front of the street. Features of the medieval town houses The houses that were planned in the medieval times were basically rectangular in figure and they had a gable end or a wing that faced towards the street. The front part of the house that was on the ground floor was usually employ for the purpose of doing trade or used to be used as a shop. Behind the shop, used to be a hall or the chief(prenominal) living argona and this was further extended to two more storeys and at the back of the house, used to be a counting house or an status along with stores and warehouses as well and an additional accommodation on the upper floor mainly above all the other styles. The kitchen was separated from the main house and it was an isolated structure at the rear near the courtyard. The upper storey adjoined the street and it used to overhang the street and this gave more space to the upper apologue than the space at the ground floor, however there was a d isadvantage of this as well because the overhanging of upper floors increased the risk of fire spreading. Halls, solars and privies Most of the houses were frame with timber and had wattle walls and the houses for the rich people were built with stone walls. The main element of the houses in the medieval times was the halls that were divided by screens that formed a passageway that led from the pantries and a kitchen area. The hall extended the full height of the building and the hall was used as a general living room by everyone who lived in the house. Privacy was very little and the family members needed a place to keep warm and for recreational purposes. In the hall, there used to be a blazing fire and its smoke used to escape through a hole that was present in the roof that was covered by louvre. The fireplaces and the chimneys were also one of the important features of the medieval times. The domestic chambers that were also known as solars and were used as sleeping rooms and it was located above the passage. At times, these were also fronted by a gallery that overlooked the hall. Even during the middle ages, the timber frames were being used extensively. There were no proper sanitation facilities in the medieval houses and the privies or garderobes were made in the thickness of the walls of larger town houses or as projecting jetties. Garderobes used to get discharged through pipes and gutters into a pit and the chamber pots were used in ordinary dwellings. Moreover, they had benches or forms, a chair, stools, chests, small cupboards, shelves housing cups, jugs, pewter, knives and spoons, bowls and plates. The people stored their food items in the small cupboards. The poor in the medieval times used palettes to sleep on. These were bags that were filled with alter ferns, rushes or heather, however the people who were well-off used wooden bedsteads to sleep on and it was very rare that the people possessed proper beds, curtains and hangings.Byzantine architecture This is the architecture of the Byzantine Empire and it emerged as a distinct artistic and cultural entity and today, it is referred as the Roman Empire after AD 330 and at this time the Roman Empire shifted its capital from Rome to Byzantium. This empire that continued for more than a hundred years influenced the Medieval and Renaissance era architecture in Europe but later in 1453, the capture of Constantinople by the Ottoman Turks led directly to the architecture of the Ottoman Empire. Early Christian ArchitectureThis flourished from the one-third to the seventh degree Celsius and it was produced for the unsplited Christian church. During the Late Antique period, Roman art and architecture extended in the late second till the seventh century and the Byzantine art and architecture existed from fifth till the seventh century. Christianity was made the state religion of the Roman Empire before the Edict of Milan. However, the art adopt by the Christians was restricted as they just used to decorate the hidden places of worship and most of this was derived from Roman art and was developed accordingly to suit the religion. The ideals of beau ideal used to get rejected by the artists, instead they used to draw images that reflected spiritual significance. In order to envisage the Christian concepts, an iconography was also formulated. In the beginning, the Christians only used to express their arts in basis of transmitting their faith and belief and not as a way of expressing beauty. Later onwards, in the one-quarter century, the early Christian architecture flourished under the imperial sponsorship. There used to be mainly two types of buildings. . The longitudinal hall basilica 2. The centralized building a baptistery or a mausoleum. The exteriors of Early Christian buildings were plain and unadorned however on the contrary, the interiors were richly decorated and had marble floors and wall slabs, frescoes, mosaics, surface works, hangings, and sumptuous altar furnishings in gold and silver. Early Christian illuminated manuscripts are of an unusually high quality, however nowadays such kind of architecture is rarely seen.Romanesque architecture This term was used to describe the architecture of Middle Ages Europe which evolved into the Gothic style beginning in the 12th century and this terms means descended from Roman and was used to describe the style from the early 19th century, however there is no specific date that is there as a proof from which this type of architecture came into existence but it ranged from the sixth century till the 10 century.Since the Imperial Roman architecture, the Romanesque architecture is known as the number 1 pan-European architectural style, moreover this style in E ngland is usually named as Norman architecture. The Romanesque architecture basically is a combination of the features found in the Western Roman and Byzantine buildings, furthermore it used to have substantial quality with thick walls and round arches along with sturdy piers, groin vaults, large towers and decorative arcading. The Gothic building followed the Romanesque architecture but comparing the two, the buildings of the Romanesque architecture had clearly defined forms and they were regular based on a symmetrical plan. The overall appearance of the buildings was simple and could clearly be identified all over Europe although the material and the characteristics in different parts of Europe were different and a lot of castles have been inform to be built during this period. Gothic ArchitectureIt is already mentioned in the previous section that the Gothic architecture followed the Romanesque architecture. This flourished mainly during the late medieval period and was succeede d by the Renaissance architecture. Gothic architecture originated in the twelfth century and lasted till the sixteenth century and during this period the Gothic architecture was known as the french style. The main characters of Gothic architecture include the pointed arch, the ribbed vault and the flying buttress. Most of the people are able to recognize the Gothic architecture. This is because most of the spectacular cathedrals, abbeys and parish churches of Europe are built using the features of this. It also has many castles, palaces, town halls, guild halls, universities, however the private dwellings were not much extensively built. The Gothic architecture was expressed most powerfully in the churches and cathedrals and some of the civic buildings as well and its characteristics normally expressed the emotions. Many religious buildings were built during this period and the smallest buildings are often differentiated from the other architectural designs. However, the larger chur ches are considered invaluable works of art. These buildings are also listed with UNESCO as World Heritage Sites. The Gothic revivals began in the mid-18th century starting from England and it spread through 19th-century in Europe that continued till the 20th century and this was largely based on the religious building and the universities.

The best bit of suspense in the second story is when they find out that she has gone and lost the necklace. The best bit of suspense in the third story is when he keeps going in at night and looking at the old man when he sleeps. The best bit of suspense in the fourth story is when he finds out that the little child has got the watch that his mum has.I think the best bit of suspense in all of the stories is in last story is that when he berries the body and the gardeners come and put grass on top of the body and he thinks that they will find the body.In the end I think all of the stories have lots of suspense in them but vendetta was my favorite because it has suspense murder in it and they are the types of stories that I like. As this supply and demand became the force behind the output. It was a time for optimism and wealth, but not without its social cost.Long thirteen-hour days, unsanitary and filthy living conditions, women and children among the workforce, overproduction, economic depression, and the loss of Jobs due to new improvement in technology took their tolls. Critics of this new industrial age declared that civilization was shifting from humanist values to a preoccupation with material goods. But with all this new technology, public education, literacy flourished nd the need for reading material became more important and widely available.Mass production of goods brought with it an overpowering need for mass communications. The nature of visual schooling was profoundly changed. A greater range of typographic sizes for broadsides and letterforms exploded. The nineteenth century was a prolific period for type face design and brought about such new classifications as egyption and sanserif, as well as outrageously decorative and novelty type faces.

Policy Issue and the Three Branches of Government Essay

In a news article written by Deborah Hastings em mogul Carded at polls No photo ID, no vote, it was shown how the three offset printinges of the government works, which are the decision maker, legislative, and judiciary, on aspects of lawfulness for the country. The issue elaborated on the news article was about the voters ID batting order. It pressed problems for large number living in certain states, one of which is Indiana, who prohibits people wit no voters ID card to vote (Hastings, 2007). The requirements for the document to be presented are a) voters photograph b) the voters puddle which should be similar to the name indicated on the voters registration record and c) a veritable expiration date (Hastings, 2007). However, a considerable number of people in Indiana do not have these requirements and are, thus, ineligible to vote (Hastings, 2007). In the news, it has been shown that it is the legislative branch of the government who takes the task of formulating the laws. The legislative branch is responsible for creating and proposing laws with the aim of making a better society for all. The second branch, the executive, has the responsibility of implementing the laws and policies. It has the veto power which gives the executive branch the chance to make advice and changes on the law proposed by the congress. In addition to this, the executive branch has quasi-legislative power, such that, as needed and with certain conditions, it can formulate policies without having to go through the regulation process of the legislative branch. Included here are administrative and executive orders. The third branch, the judicial branch, serves as a check and balance for the legislative and the executive branch. The judiciary ensures that the acts of the other two branches are inside the framework of the Constitution. It is hard to end that they have disturb roles, nor is it fair to say that they do not posses equal roles. This is for the reason that their resp onsibilities are practically different from one another. One can not simply conclude that three persons do equal tasks when the natre of their tasks and duties are different. However, it can be said that they are equal in terms of the level and that no branch of the government is a subordinate of the other. This is clearly stated in the Constitution (Baker, 2007). It is very important to note, after having discussed the roles of the three branches of the government, that they contribute to the functioning of the society and the country.ReferencesBaker, J. H. This theme has also been very strongly dealt with in the play, which reflects upon the beliefs of society. The way the lady Hero was suspected of having an illicit relationship is even present in todays life, wherein women atomic number 18 suspected by their men. (Much Ado About Nothing) The relationship between men and women in this play is another very interesting factor, which gives momentum to the play. It is very i nteresting to note that Benedick and Beatrice, who had been bitter enemies at the beginning, fall into love with each(prenominal) other repayable to change of events. At the same time Claudio and Hero who fall into love initially, start to hate each other due to double-dealing and change in circumstances. Thus the play brings forward the truth behind the complexity of relationship, that underlies between men and women and the way it affects each star of them. . (Much Ado About Nothing) Gender is one main factor in this play. The characters have a set of expected characteristics, which they are supposed to follow due to pressures of the society. As a result the female characters in the play strictly pursue the set of norms and rules set by the pivotal sex, which very well brings out their limitations. The only exception to this has been the character Beatrice, who seems to be quite outspoken and is against the supposition of marriage in her life. But it is found that towards th e end of the play, she too accepts the role of becoming wife to Benedick. (Much Ado About Nothing) Paternalism has a big role in the movie. It is evident in the case of Leonato, who exercises his power on his daughter Hero, to accept the marriage proposal of Claudio, brought about by the Prince. Paternalism is felt quite strongly in the play, since Benedick feels that, the outspoken Beatrice is crossing limits by making fun of him. He feels that noble ladies have to be silent and humble before men. In the case of Claudio and Hero who were already in love, it can be said that, they would have a good marriage and their relationship would last long. Except for an occasion wherein they were tricked by Don John, on all other occasions they were quite passionate lovers. The same was not in the case of Benedick and Beatrice, who had been tricked into believing that each one of them was in love with the other. Both of them could not get along with each other and Benedick always used to keep a distance from Beatrice due to her outspoken behaviour, at the very beginning. So their marriage would not be a happy one considering each ones character. (Much Ado About Nothing) The play Much Ado About Nothing gives a very good reflection, about how well both men and women understand about each other. Indeed the character of Benedick very well shows that, he very little understands the feminine reputation of care and love. Only when he is falsely led to believe that Beatrice is in love with him, that he starts to do the concept of love and affection and starts to understand the qualities of women. The same in the case of Beatrice who initially feels that, men are dominant in the society due to which, she does not like to marry and become a break ones back to a man. Faithfulness on the part of women towards their men is a theme, which has been very well portrayed in the movie. The depth of love that a woman has for a man is not understood by the characters in the play, which i s very much evident in the character of Claudio, who starts to suspect his lover Heros fealty towards him. This is one aspect that causes the unfortunate turn of events, causing a

No formal contract was signed in the midst of TWD and Yello. Even though TWD and Yello did non sign a contract, LMI and TWD make the agreement that LMI would arrange it so that they would pay TWD to set up a website for the band. Such relationships are termed quasi-contract. Although there is no contract or agreement between the parties, they are repose in the same position as if there were a contract between them.1 The commentary of what a quasi-contract is can be given here. As defined in Blacks Law Dictionary, a quasi contract is an obligation which law creates in absence of agreement it is invoked by courts where there is unjust enrichment The function of quasi contract is to raise obligation in law where in fact the p arties made no secure, and it is non based on apparent intention of the parties.2 Also, contracts do not extradite to be written down to be enforceable. A contract, by definition, is an agreement between two or more persons which creates an obligation to do or not to do a particular thing. Its essentials are able parties, subject matter, a legal consideration, mutuality of agreement, and mutuality of obligation.3 Additionally, a contract is formed in any transaction in which one or both parties make a legally enforceable promise. A promise is legally enforceable where it was made as part of a bargain for valid consideration reasonably induced the promise to rely on the promise to his detriment or is deemed enforceable by a statute notwithstanding the lack of consideration.4 there are several types of contracts, in addition. Contracts may be one of three types express (an agreement brought most by words) implied-in-fact (an agreement brought about by conduct) or implied-in-law, also known as a quasi-contract (which is not a true contract but an obligation imposed by a court despite the absence of a promise in order to avoid an injustice.5 Since it has been shown that there was a quasi-contract between LMI and TWD, TWD is now committed to performing services for LMI under the deal that was hammered out in the wine Bareven though nothing was put down in writing in a formal sense. However, this could indeed hurt LMI later as one shall see. 4. The website includes photos of Yello given to TWD, and three (3) short extracts of songs from Yellos first album. TWD does not necessarily own the stoves or the three (3) short extracts of music given to TWD in order to market the band Yello. The copyright of the music belongs to LMI since they had a deal signed with them. Whoever took the photographs (on e would presume that would be the photographer) who would own the copyrights to the band Yellos photos. However, if Yello purchased the copyright of the images, then the images belong to themor if the Yello bands image is already procure. This can be a complex issue. If Yellos image is not copyrighted, it may be able to be distributed other places. Also, the copyright on the song excerpts must also be copyrighted in order to make sure that if there is any type of infringement, then the people or person infringing upon the copyright of

This is wrong because it is obvious that needs the whole brain to be wholly functional in all aspects of life. The article clearly oversimplified the importance of the right side of the brain. It has been proven that the right side is just as important as the left side. To be an all rounded mortal means that the person can perform any task without a problem. However, the article says that one half of the brain is enough to carry out many activities in ones life. The article does not focus much on the right side of the brain even though it is just as important as th e left half. It concentrates on the functions of the left side and even goes as far as to state what would happen if someone lost his or her use of the left side of the brain. The article is too wrong in stating that removing some parts of the brain will not affect a persons life. Every part of the brain has its own unique function and if it is severed or removed, then that function is not possible anymore. Memory is one of the things that are most affected when a part of the brain is tampered with (Shaw and Palm, 46).The brain is a very important part of the human anatomy. Although the topic suggests that one can perform well enough using only one half of the brain, I tend to prize that both halves are equally important.
